Mining Memorials
Outside the Blidworth Leisure Centre at the intersection of Mansfield Road and Belle View Lane, a preserved winding wheel from the colliery is mounted in a customary semi-circular display. The headstocks were demolished in October 1989 shortly after the colliery closed.
In front of the memorial is a mosaic which spells the name ‘Blidworth’.
In 2022, a lecturn-style memorial was unveiled at this location to commemorate the lives of 35 miners who were killed whilst working at the colliery. The project was supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund with donations from the local community, coordinated by the Social Action Hub, Rainworth and Blidworth Parish Council.
